How to complete student loan entrance counseling and MPN forms
You will need to complete the following steps in order to borrow from the Federal Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized student loan programs:
The Entrance Counseling Session
A counseling session will take 20-30 minutes to complete. You must complete the counseling in a single session. You cannot save a partially completed counseling session. Entrance counseling explains the obligations you agree to meet as a condition of borrowing a Direct Loan.
How TO access session
1. Log in at https://www.studentaid.gov with your FSA ID and password.
2. Hover over the “COMPLETE AID PROCESS” option along the top of the webpage.
3. Click “Complete Entrance Counseling”
4. Click “START”
Complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN)
The MPN for Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans is a legal document in which you promise to repay your loan(s) and any accrued interest and fees to the U.S. Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan(s). Most people complete the MPN in less than 30 minutes. The entire MPN process must be completed in a single session.
How to access
1. Log in at https://www.studentaid.gov with your FSA ID and password.
2. Hover over the “COMPLETE AID PROCESS” option along the top of the webpage.
3. Click “MPN For Undergraduates”
4. Click “START”
This process must be completed by parents who are taking out a PLUS Loan. The same information applies, except a parent will need to log into their own FSA account and complete, “MPN for Parents."
Send Official Final Transcripts/Test Scores
After graduation or your last semester, be sure to have your school send over an official, final transcript to us. In order for transcripts to be considered official, it will either need to be mailed to our office directly from your high school or sent to us using a secure server such as parchment, escript, ect. Transcripts must have graduation dates listed on them in order to be final.
If you have test scores you want to submit, please be sure to request your official ACT, SAT, or CLT scores. You can also check with your guidance counselor and have these added to your transcripts.
