Kyle Sunderland

BIO BRIEF

Kyle Sunderland is a 2023 Greenville University graduate passionate about relational ministry to Spanish-speaking populations. After graduation, he was selected as the program director for GU’s new Climb Experience, a gap semester program in the Dominican Republic. A partnership program with Score International Ministries, the Climb Experience semester abroad presents a life-changing educational and ministry opportunity through the SCORE International Ministries campus in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic that offers students an immersive educational opportunity while earning college credits.

Kyle’s experience at GU included five years on the men’s soccer team, three as co-captain, and two back-to-back SLIAC championships. He grew in his Spanish language skills within an incredibly diverse team.

WHY I SERVE AT GU?

Kyle has learned from his experience that we should get out of their comfort zones and outside of our own culture to experience the world in a different way. He studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, during college and found the experience transformative for his Spanish and his faith. Likewise, he wants Climb Experience students to have the opportunity to experience God in a new way through the Dominican people, appreciate the beautiful culture, and be immersed in a God-loving, Spanish-speaking environment. He knows and has seen firsthand that this transformative experience will prepare them to grow and empower them to serve for their entire lives.
