96th Annual Performance - Handel's Messiah.
The Greenville Choral Union first presented G.F. Handel’s oratorio Messiah in 1916. We have performed selections from this masterwork annually for the past 96 years! This year, we will present “Part 1,” the Christmas portion, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The Choral Union began rehearsing on September 9, and rehearsals continue weekly.
As always, our performance will be held in the beautiful Wilson Recital Hall of the Whitlock Music Center on the Greenville University campus (at the corner of Elm Street and College Avenue). Soloists will include:
Alexandra Billhartz, M.A., soprano.
- Grace Denton, D.M.A., M.M., GU professor of voice, mezzo-soprano.
- Me, Don Frazure, D.W.S., M.M., GU Choir and Choral Union director, tenor.
- Jacob Lassetter, D.M.A., M.M., Webster University professor of voice, bass-baritone
The Choral Union Orchestra, comprised of both guest and local players, will be helmed once again by our long-time concertmaster Gina McIsaac.
