Greenville University senior Claire Krober was recently named a 2022 Student Laureate of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
The worship arts and theology double major was recognized for her on-campus leadership and urged to follow Abraham Lincoln’s example of “leadership that inspires.” In notifying Krober of her selection for the award, Lincoln Academy Executive Director Leanne Barnhart challenged her to pursue character qualities that Lincoln modeled: courage, empathy, honesty, and integrity.
“I’m super grateful for the award,” said Krober, a native of Avon, Indiana. “I’m also thankful for the faculty and staff here at Greenville University who have inspired me to be an effective servant-leader. As a small, tight-knit school, GU has been a perfect fit for me.”
Krober plays guitar and drums and sings in various student bands that lead worship for on- and off-campus events. She’s also active in GU’s Interfaith Club.
GU President Suzanne Davis praised Krober for her contributions in several areas of campus life.
“She was nominated by her peers, the faculty, and the staff for her leadership abilities,” Davis said. “She’s recognized as a leader not only in our worship bands, but also in the way she serves others all across campus.”
After graduation, Krober plans to pursue a master’s degree at Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida, as she prepares for a career as a worship pastor.
