#GivingTuesday GU: Peyton Bates '24

Peyton Bates ’24 chose GU because “on each one of my visits I felt welcome and included.” Even the football coaches who recruited him cared about his interests and personal well-being, not just his athletic prowess. This impressed Peyton.

Also, he wanted a Christian atmosphere for his schooling. He hopes to teach and coach at the high school level after college and wants to show his future students the love of Jesus. Attending a Christ-centered institution would strengthen his faith and prepare him to better serve others as a witness for Christ.

Without financial assistance, Peyton could not have attended GU. Fortunately, GU donors funded the Panther Preferred Scholarship that made four years of schooling possible for Peyton.

Speaking of The Greenville University Fund, which fuels scholarships, Peyton says, “This fund gives students the opportunity to change the world.”  He believes God draws students like him to GU for a reason and hopes that he and his classmates will “impact hundreds of lives for the glory of the Lord.”
