Turpin Elected to Chair the Greenville University Board of Trustees

Published: April 13, 2021

Turpin Elected to Chair the Greenville University Board of TrusteesGreenville University President Ivan Filby is pleased to announce Kathleen (Stewart 91) Turpin as chair of the Universitys Board of Trustees, effective immediately. The announcement followed the boards regular fall meeting, November 1-3, where members unanimously elected Turpin.

Turpin replaces longtime board member Jerry Hood, who chaired the board for almost five years. Hood will continue as a board member and focus on assisting with a comprehensive fundraising campaign should the board move forward with one. A campaign is currently under study.

Turpin currently serves as vice president of human resources for Brotherhood Mutual, where she previously served as associate legal counsel and also as litigation specialist.

She joined G.U.s Board of Trustees in 2015, chairing the trusteeship committee and serving as vice chair.

Gratitude and Obedience to Gods Call

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve at a place I love and that had such a transformational impact on my life, said Turpin. Jerry provided a strong blueprint for chairing the board and I look forward to working alongside him, the other board members, and the administration, faculty and staff. My prayer is we will be obedient to the Lords call in leading Greenville University.

Broad Experience

Turpin graduated from Greenville University in 1991, majoring in speech and psychology. She holds a law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and designations as associate in management and as chartered property and casualty underwriter.

She belongs to the Christian Legal Society, Indiana Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, Society of Human Resources and Northern Indiana Human Resources Association. She attends Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, where she serves on the daycare centers board and leads junior high youth. She previously served as a member of the churchs administrative board.

Kathleens experience positions her well to lead the Board of Trustees into the future, said Filby.
