Women's Basketball rocks St. Mary-of-the-Woods

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team got 28 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals from Greenville free2play Classic MVP Laura Goodnight as the Lady Panthers rolled to a 103-81 win. In the process, Greenville set a modern record for points in a game.

Despite trailing in the early going by six, Greenville turned the tables and entered the halftime intermission up by 10. Greenville pushed their lead to as many as 31 before settling for the 22 point margin of victory.

The Lady Panthers shot well from the floor, knocking down 39-of-65 shots for a 60 percent clip. They made 8-of-14 three pointers and 17-of-22 free throws.

Taylor Paulin, also named to the All-Classic team, produced 19 points.

Claire Schmitt dished out 12 assists.

Coley Baker added 11 points, seven rebounds, and nine blocked shots.

The All-Classic team included Laci Porter of Robert Morris - Springfield, Megan Duisen of MacMurray, and Shelby Parmer of St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Greenville led the classic standings with a perfect 2-0 record. Robert Morris Springfield and MacMurray were 1-1, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods ended 0-2.

The Lady Panthers (4-3) host Culver-Stockton on Thursday at 7 p.m. in their final contest of the 2014 calendar year.
