Published: April 13, 2021

FULTON, Mo. The women's basketball team ended their season in the first round of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference womens tournament, as they fell 70-53 Thursday evening in Fulton against the number one seeded Westminster.

Guards Emmalee Fladland and Ieisha Adams led GC in the losing effort, both chipping in a team high 12 points. Senior Anna Yardy also contributed, controlling the boards for the ladies and grabbing a team high six rebounds.

Westminster took an early lead on Greenville from the get-go, opening the game on a debilitating 19-0 run. The Blue Jays led 36-20 at intermission and forced 30 turnovers in the game to keep Greenville out of striking distance.

"We allowed ourselves to be hurried on offense, and that led to a lot of turnovers,"saidhead coach Roy Mulholland. "Westminster played really well, and they are the best team in the SLIAC for a reason. I was very proud of our girls regardless, and the ladies never quit fighting."

Westminster senior guard Sarah Kirchoff led all scorers with 16 points, while SLIAC player of the year Rachel Backes added 14 points of her own while managing the Bluejay victory.

"We had a great year and definitely have taken some major steps forward," said Mulholland. "You can't say enough about this group of kidsand the way they worked and played together this year. Though we are sad to see the season end, we accomplished some great things and look forward to even more accomplishments next year."

The Lady Panthers ended the season 13-12 (7-9 SLIAC) with Thursdays opening round loss in the SLIAC womens tournament.
