Richard Stephens Character Scholarship

At GU, we know that an academic record isn’t the only factor in identifying future success at the university level. The Richard Stephens Character Scholarship is a college scholarship for traditional freshman or transfer students that does not have a GPA or test requirement and is available for students who have shown evidence of character and service throughout their lives pre-college.

Named after the eighth president of Greenville, Dr. Richard Stephens, this scholarship celebrates GU's mission of character and service. Stephens was a Greenville pioneer that valued a person's true character.

Eligibility

The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. There is no GPA requirement and no test score requirement. Stephens Scholars are required to live on campus. Stephens scholars are service-oriented individuals with high character. Stephens Scholars… Demonstrate passion and perseverance toward accomplishing a long-term goal, are diligent and show academic determination. Value others and seek to serve those around them, always going the extra mile. Aim to change the world and believe that even small things can make a huge difference.

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for the Richard Stephens Character Scholarship: 1. Complete our initial application. 2. After acceptance, an admissions counselor will invite you to fill out our Richard Stephen Character application.
