24 years ago I couldn’t imagine the blessing of coaching at one institution for a career. The impact you can make and the impact a community makes on you and your family is significant. My friends in the coaching profession are amazed at the longevity of such an experience and career.
Greenville has been a wonderful place to watch the young men on my team (and students in our department) mature into outstanding citizens, employers, employees, husbands, and fathers. My deepest desire is to see them serve and advance the kingdom in their chosen profession. We call it the 20-year return. We don’t know how successful we are each season until about 20 years after that season is over. That’s when we see how the players are doing in life. It warms my heart to see pictures of them at their workplace, interacting with each other, standing up at each other’s weddings, holding their children, and serving their communities. Greenville is a special place in which to start and incubate that process.
