How to Spice up your Dorm Room

A majority of the time you spend at college is spent in your dorm room so it is important that you make it feel like home. You want to feel comfortable in your room and keep it organized. Be sure to add decorations that fit your personality. Read on to get ideas on how to spice up your college dorm room.
Get a Plant
A plant is a quick fix to spice up your room. It adds life as well as fresh air. The best part about keeping a plant is that it is really easy to take care of. A majority of plants require some sunlight and regulated watering. As long as you give it what it needs, then you should be set.
Some of the easiest plants to take care of are moss balls, cactuses, succulents, and aloe vera. They are all relatively cheap plants to get and they require very little upkeep.
Get a Fish
If you get lonely and want something to keep you company then a fish is definitely the answer. Fish are relatively inexpensive to buy but it does cost a bit to get a bowl or tank for them to live in as well as to buy their food. In the end the money doesn’t matter as you now have something to keep you company in your room.
Get a Tapestry
A good way to add color and uniqueness to your room is to get a tapestry. You can get a basic one or you can get one that fits your personality perfectly. Redbubble is a great site when you want a unique, fun tapestry to show off your personality. On the other hand, Society 6 is a great place to get basic, popular tapestries to show off in your room. Tapestries allow you to express yourself and bring uniqueness to your dorm room.
Add lights to your room
One way to bring color to your room is to add lights. In the past years LED strip lights have become popular to have in dorm rooms. They allow there to be different colors in your room depending on your mood. If you aren’t super into LED lights then string lights work as well. You can get either white lights or color lights depending on what you feel fits with your room the best.
Add posters and pictures
One way to add personality to your room is to add posters that mean something to you. These can be anywhere from inspirational words to a poster of your favorite singer or band. One of the best places to buy posters at is Urban Outfitters. Their posters are affordable which is perfect for college students. Another option for posters is Redbubble. They offer smaller versions of their tapestries for some of their prints. This is perfect if you don’t want to spend too much money or if you don’t want anything too big. Another way to add personality to your room is to hang up some pictures that are meaningful to you. This allows you to bring a little bit of home to your room. One of the cheapest options to print pictures is through Walmart. They offer small prices with good quality.
Decorating your dorm is important as you will be living there all year. Many schools give out what they allow and what they have banned in their residence halls so make sure you read those.
