2005 Volleyball Preview

GREENVILLE, Ill. - With the 2004 season in the record book, the Panthers look toward the future. Lone senior and four year starter Kelly Kepley will be missed. As a team captain her senior year, Kepley led the team in hitting percentage and was named second team all-conference. While Kepley will be hard to replace, Greenville is set to return several key players and be joined by some new faces. Returning role players for the team include senior outside hitter Sara Skibinski, senior middle hitter Sonya Lopez, and senior opposite Heidi Woods. "Sara was our most consistent player last season," said head coach Tom Ackerman. "Lopez will be a main focus of our offense while Woods dominates the net blocking". Senior Carissa Garman who is known for her excellent passing also returns.Junior Laura Alo made her presence known in 2004 as the leading defensive player. Sophomore Nichol Edgar had a strong freshman year and will continue to help the team. Newcomers to the team include 5-11 sophomore middle blocker Kristi Walker from Houston, Texas. Walker began playing with the team second semester last year and looks very promising. Jill Colclasure comes to the team from Charleston, Ill., and is a sophomore 5-10 outside hitter.Transferring from Lincoln College are setter Rosie Miller and 5-10 outside hitter Kristen Meminger. Both will make an immediate impact on the program.The freshman class includes Jessica Westover, a 5-9 middle hitter from Colorado; Jessica Ellsworth, 5-6 setter from Greenville, Ill.; defensive specialist Kerry Hammer from Metamora, Ill.; and outside hitter Jessi Strack from East Alton, Ill.
