2007 Volleyball Preview

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The 2007 Panther volleyball team will see several new faces combined with a strong presence of familiarity.The Panthers graduated lone senior Rosie Miller. Rosie was the starting setter for the Panthers in 2005 and 2006. She came to Greenville by way of Lincoln Community College. The 2007 Panthers will be led by their seniors - two-time most valuable player and all-conference outside hitter Laura Alo and a player whose leadership is priceless in Jill Colclasure.Senior all-conference players Kristen Meminger and all-conference tournament team member Heather Varnon will also return to the line up.Middle blocker Jessica Westover and opposite hitter Jessica Strack return for their junior year. Also entering her junior year is Kerry Hammer who is a two-time all-conference player and led the conference in digs in 2006.Sophmore middle blocker Marsha Marsland will defend her title as the conference leader in blocks. Setter Bethany Yoder and middle hitter Christy Dashiell also return as sophmores.The freshman class includes middle blockers Jessica Dothager and Bethany Billingsley. Outside hitters Nikki Snowden and Katy Gilmore join the team. Opposites include Katelin Feyerabend and Kendra Varnon."We have strong seniors with great leadership and several freshman with starting potential," said head coach Tom Ackerman. "It should make for a very exciting year."
