GREENVILLE, Ill. - The 2007 edition of the Greenville College women's soccer team will return to campus this fall to continue the strong tradition of Panther soccer. Ten starters return from the 2006 team, while 19 first-year players are a welcome addition to the squad. Greenville's only loss from the 2006 squad was senior defender Victoria Sievert (Francis Howell North, Mo., HS). During her four-year career, Sievert was a member of the SLIAC all-conference and NCCAA all-region teams each season. Returning all-conference senior captain midfielder Natalie Lappe (Greenville, Ill., HS) will be a major contributor in the attack for the Panthers. Last year, Lappe had a team-high 13 goals and 12 assists for a school record 38 points. The junior class of midfielder Tiffany Sanders (Greenville, Ill., HS), defender Keely Scott (Normal, Ill., University HS), and forward Janie Hayward (St. Louis, Mo., Brentwood HS) will also look to provide immediate support for the Panthers this season. Greenville also returns a solid sophomore class that saw significant playing time last season as freshmen. Immediate sophomore contributors include forward Stormy Hatt (Wesclin, Ill., HS), midfielder Kirsten Para (McHenry, Ill., HS), and defenders Kim Reddell (Camp Verde, Ariz., HS) and Liz Marsh (Wesclin, Ill., HS). The Panthers bring in a solid class of 19 new players to the program this year which compliments the previous classes of talented newcomers from across the country. On defense, Molly Spinder (Morton, Ill., HS) and Kaitlin Sexton (St. Peters, Mo., Francis Howell Central) will provide immediate impact while freshman Jackie Sievert (St. Louis, Mo., Francis Howell North), freshman Kim Trautman (St. Louis, Mo., Francis Howell North) and transfer Nicole Troupe (Waterloo, Ill., Lincoln College) will anchor the midfield. Up front for the Panthers, Nicky Ziegemeier (St. Louis, Mo., Francis Howell Central) and Jessica Wagner (Franklin, Ohio, Christian HS) will look to support the attack while in the nets junior transfer Sarah Demoree (Granite City, Ill., SWIC) will fill the spot in goal.Brian McMahon is in his seventh year as head men's soccer coach and sixth year as head women's soccer coach at Greenville College. Now in his 15th year of coaching soccer, McMahon has coached in the club, high school, and collegiate settings. As a player, McMahon competed at Indiana Wesleyan University where he received NCCAA national honors. He also played overseas in England, Ireland, and North Ireland.McMahon graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Following graduation, McMahon earned his certified chemical dependency counselor (CCDC) license while counseling juvenile delinquents in a treatment facility. In 2002, he completed a master's degree in sports psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, McMahon is the SLIAC men's soccer chair and serves on the NCAA and NSCAA central region ranking committees.Taking into account the return of ten starters from the 2006 squad and the addition of 19 quality incoming freshmen the Panthers should again be contenders for the SLIAC conference championship.
