2008 Volleyball Preview

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The 2008 Panther volleyball team will be young, but not inexperienced. The 2008 Panthers will be led by their lone senior, Kerry Hammer. Hammer has been a starter and all conference player since arriving at Greenville College. She has been the backbone of G.C.'s defense and is currently the all time dig leader at Greenville College. Middle blocker Marsha Marsland will return to the lineup after battling injury her sophomore year. Marsland led the conference in blocks as a freshman.Opposite Christy Dashiell returns and will join Hammer as a team captain this year.Also entering her junior year and moving from setter to outside hitter is Bethany Yoder.New additions to the junior class include Caroline Geiger and Lauren Finders. Finders is a transfer from Lincoln Land Community College and will have an immediate impact in the setting position. The sophomore class is very talented and includes middle blockers Bethany Billingsley and Jessica Dothager and outside hitters Nikki Snowden and Jenna Marcotte. Also in the sophomore class is the 2007 SLIAC co-newcomer of the year Katelin Feyerabend.The freshman class includes outside hitter Kristen Schutte and setter Janell Crow. Alyssa Cliffe and Sydney Cooper also join the team as defensive specialists.
