5K Run for Haiti Relief
Published: April 13, 2021
GC COR 401 students are teaming up with the Greenville Free Methodist Church and International Crisis Aid to host the Family Fun 5K Run for Haiti Relief on Saturday, April 17 at 9:00 am.
The idea to host a 5K run began last fall when a few of the group members participated in the International Crisis Aid (ICA) 5K run in St. Louis along with many other Greenville College students, staff, and faculty. Group members enjoyed the exercise and camaraderie, as well as running for a cause, so they decided it would be fun to host a similar event in Greenville
The student group decided to partner with the Greenville Free Methodist Church (GFMC) when they learned the church already had a family fun 5K on the calendar for April 17th. GFMC was excited about the partnership opportunity and the two groups became one, hoping to generate even more funds for Haiti relief through ICA. GC has a great partnership already established with ICA and has even started an on campus student group called Students for International Crisis Aid (SICA).
This is the second event GC students have hosted for Haiti relief. The first, Hoops for Haiti , raised over $3,200. All proceeds from the Family Fun 5K on April 17 Run will go to assist ICA's efforts to rebuild destroyed orphanages in Haiti.
