Esteemed Duke Professor to Offer Presentations at Greenville
Published: April 13, 2021
As the Greenville College community continues to wrestle with the central question of "heart and mind" at the center of the Christian faith, three theologians have been invited to share and assist in the process. On Monday, March 7, GC welcomes the first of these, Dr. Samuel Wells.
Dr. Samuel Wells, Dean of the Chapel and Research Professor of Christian Ethics at Duke University, will speak in chapel and deliver a colloquium on Monday, March 7 at Greenville College. Dr. Wells is one of the keynote speakers for the 2010-11 chapel topic, "Developing an Integrated Life: Becoming a Christian in Heart and Mind," and is in an internationally known scholar in the field of Christian Ethics. Wells holds degrees from Oxford, Edinburgh, and Durham Universities and is a prolific author. Two of his books are included in the curriculum in GC's Philosophy and Religion department: Improvisation: The Drama of Christian Ethics (Brazos) and Introducing Christian Ethics (Wiley-Blackwell). Wells has been a wonderful mentor to many of Greenville College graduates who have matriculated at Duke for graduate study.
Dr. Wells will preach in Monday's chapel on the subject of "Does God Heal?" based upon 2 Kings 5:1-14 and in the afternoon he will bring a colloquium address at 3:30 p.m. in Snyder 104 entitled, "A Nazareth Manifesto."
The public is invited to both the chapel address at 9:30 a.m. in the Whitlock Center and the 3:30 colloquium in Snyder Hall 104.
