#GivingTuesdayGU: Jeremiah Smith ’20, Music Industry Studies and English
Published: April 13, 2021
Jeremiah Smith 20, music industry studies and English major, dreams big of a career recording and producing records for popular and up-and-coming music artists.
I want to help bring an artists vision to life. I want their message to be heard, he says.
To break into this competitive industry, Jeremiah knew he needed outstanding preparation in college. It was important to me that I start working in [recording] studios my freshman year, he says. Greenville Universitys music industry studies program offered that chance.
Before he could enjoy the opportunities GU offered, Jeremiah had to solve the problem of covering tuition. Financial Championsalumni and friends just like youcame through. They funded scholarships that gave Jeremiah the confidence he needed to enroll. They also:
- gave him countless hours of experience recording, mixing and producing music;
- exposed him to a strong and supportive community,
- helped him forge connections with professors truly vested in his success, and
- helped him build deep relationships with dear friends.
Scholarships are the reason that I can attend Greenville University, he says. Without them, I wouldnt be able to afford my education without going into serious debt.
Jeremiah says his favorite GU memories are staying up very late with good friends, having meaningful conversations. Hell soon stand in a friends wedding.
When you fund a scholarship, you help students like Jeremiah access their first choice in college programs, and discover the life-changing community GU has to offer. Thank you for giving.
