Grant, Gray Represent GC at 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa -- Senior Penny Grant and freshman Bruce Gray competed for the Black & Orange in Saturday's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at Grinnell College's Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center Field House.
Grant led the Panthers to a 25th place national finish with her performances in the jumps. The senior leapt to a seventh place finish in the women's triple jump with an effort of 11.63m and claimed two points. Grant then jumped 5.75m in the women's long jump to notch fifth place and take home five points.
Grant finished ninth at the 2011 NCAA DIII Indoor Championships, and claimed All-American honors by way of her fourth place finish at the Outdoor Championships, while also posting a thirteenth place mark in the Long Jump.
On the men's side, freshman sprinter Bruce Gray served as the Panthers lone runner in the national showcase. Gray raced his way to sixth place in the 60m dash behind a blazing time of 6.88. His three team points earned GC men's track and field a 42nd place finish nationally.
Greenville College men's and women's track and field will now switch gears to the 2012 outdoor season, starting March 23 at the Washington University Twilight meet.
