Gray, Men’s Indoor Track & Field Take Third at NCCAA’s

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -Greenville College notched 13 individual top-ten finishes and two sprinting titles supplied by freshman Bruce Gray, as the Black & Orange took home third place on Saturday and again proved why they are a mainstay in NCCAAs elite.
Headlining the GC and meet performances was NCCAA co-MVP Gray. Greenvilles rookie sprint specialist took home gold in both the 55M (6.45) and the 200M (22.20) and competed as a leg of the winning 200M-relay squad that was later disqualified. For his efforts Gray was afforded NCCAA All-American honors.
Staying on the short-track, Senior and four-year letterwinning sprinter Brian White added to his Greenville career accomplishments, taking second in the 55M (6.46) and fifth in the 200M (23.02). Junior middle-distance athlete Josh Dees turned in strong performance in the 400M run, racing his way to fourth place with a time of 1:56.99.
Following in the footsteps of past GC greats, sophomore hurdler Sean Kweifio-Okai stamped his name into the top five in the 55M hurdles behind a finals time of 7.82. The Australian earned four points for the Panthers and grabbed fifth place.
Seniors Coree Woltering and Xavier Ortiz represented the Black & Orange in the battle for distance, both finishing inside the top ten in their respective events. Woltering posted a blazing 4:23.09 in the mile to nab seventh place, while Ortiz ran a 15:53.12 in the 5000M for ninth.
In the pits it was jumper Matt Pollek who titled the notables for the Panthers. Pollek garnered All-American honors for his third place finish in the long jump(6.53m, 21 05.25)and a fourth place showing in the triple jump(13.15M, 43 01.75), where he was knocked off the podium by a mere centimeter.
Olivet Nazarene won the 20-team meet with 140 points while Indiana Wesleyan was next with 103. Cedarville and Greenville tied for third place with 64 points each.
Greenville College mens indoor track and field will prepare for the March 9-10 NCAA DII Indoor National Championships with a last chance meet on Friday, March 2 at North Central.
