Greenville Choral Union to Begin Rehearsing for 79th Anniversary Season of Community Messiah Performances

The Greenville Choral Union will begin vocal rehearsals for its Seventy-ninth Anniversary Season on Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals will be held in the James E. Wilson Recital Hall in the Whitlock Music Center on the Greenville College campus (formerly known as the Greenville Free Methodist Church) located at the corner of College Avenue and Elm Street.
Anniversary Concert Planned
This year's concert marks the seventy-ninth annual performance of George Frideric Handel's oratorio Messiah in Greenville. In commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the death of G.F. Handel, the 125-voice Choral Union and 50-piece orchestra will perform all of Part 1 of Messiah and most of Parts 2 and 3. This year's presentation will feature vocal soloists from the Greenville community, Chicago, and Kansas City, as well as instrumental soloists from the St. Louis area. The concert will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Whitlock Music Center Recital Hall at Greenville College.
