Greenville College Announces 2010 Commencement Weekend Speakers and Schedule

Greenville College will conduct its 118th Commencement exercises with ceremonies and festivities on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23.
The Adult , Graduate Studies and UTEP commencement will be held in the Crum Recreation Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 22. Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks of Denton, TX will deliver the commencement address. Baccalaureate, a farewell address in the form of a sermon delivered to the graduating class, will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Crum Recreation Center. Dr. Kent Dunnington of Greenville, IL will deliver the address. Commencement ceremonies for traditional graduates will follow at 3 p.m. on Sunday, also in the Crum Recreation Center. The commencement address will be delivered by Dr. David H. Arnott of Dallas, TX.
Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks
Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks graduated from Greenville College in 1988 with a BA in Sociology. In 1995 he graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education. He continued his post graduate education at the University of Colorado at Denver by earning his doctorate in Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Innovation in 2006. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of North Texas and is the Director of the ECE Masters Program. Before arriving at UNT, he taught at Central Washington University , University of Connecticut , and University of Rhode Island . He also worked as a research assistant at the Denver Children's Hospital and a special education teacher in two school districts in the Denver metro area.
Dr. Easton-Brooks is involved in many local and national organizations, as well as several service organizations within his community. Dr. Easton-Brooks is a Senior Research Fellow of the Center for Education Policy and Reform at the University of North Texas, and recently served as the President of the Chapter of National Association of Multicultural Education (NAME). He currently serves as a guest editor and reviewer for several national education journals.
Dr. Easton-Brooks' research centers on the effects of social factors (community, economics, policies, school structure, and school function) on the academic achievement of minority students in early elementary classroom settings. He has published articles on the achievement gap and educational policies. He has also presented on topics related to multicultural education, teacher efficiency, and early childhood education.
Dr. Kent Dunnington
Dr. Kent Dunnington has served as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Greenville College since 2007. He received his BS in Philosophy from Southern Nazarene University in 1999. He went on to receive his Master's of Arts in Philosophy from Texas A&M University in 2002, and his Master's of Theological Studies from Duke University Divinity School in 2006. In 2007, Dr. Dunnington continued his education by attaining a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, with a dissertation on "Addiction and Action: Aristotle and Aquinas in Dialogue with Addiction Studies."
Dr. Dunnington is currently a member of both the Wesleyan Philosophical Society and Wesleyan Theological Society. He recently contributed to the book Christians in the Public Square Addiction and Virtue , authoring a chapter titled "Pluralism, Toleration, and Corruption of the Youth: Engaging the 'New Traditionalist' Critique of Liberalism."
Dr. David H. Arnott
Dr. David H. Arnott was a member of the 1977 graduating class at Greenville College. He received his MBA from Texas A&M University at Commerce , and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington where he majored in strategy, and minored in international business. His dissertation on U.S.-Russian joint ventures gained him recognition as a John Dean Stanley Scholar.
Dr. Arnott is in his 15th year as professor of Strategic Management in the College of Business at Dallas Baptist University . He has written three books and numerous articles on leadership and international business. He teaches a wide range of business courses, as well as a course he developed under the guidance of Dr. Larry Linamen titled "Professional Sports Management."
Before joining academia, Dr. Arnott worked in professional sports management, and in the sports equipment and promotions industry. He has been a consultant, speaker, and teacher in many countries. This spring, he completed the "BRIC tour" by taking his students to Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
His academic success has led to his appearance on the CBS program 48 Hours , a national TV morning show, as well as on numerous radio shows. As a speaker, Dr. Arnott has authored and delivered over 200 days of seminars on multiple topics in leadership and management.
Greenville College is pleased to welcome Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks, Dr. Kent Dunnington and Dr. David H. Arnott for the commencement weekend festivities.
