On Sunday, November 1, the Greenville College Choir and Chamber Singers will have the unique opportunity to perform with the world renowned Boston Camerata, along with the Cathedral Schola and St. Louis Archdiocesan Choir at 2:30 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

The program, titled "A Symphony of Psalms," was constructed in honor of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Reformed theologian John Calvin. It features various Psalm settings ranging from Hebrew chant to polychoral Counter-Reformation motets. Greenville College Choir Director Jeff Wilson says of the performance, "The effect of hearing this unique repertoire with performing forces of 1 to 150 voices, along with and separate from a professional ensemble of early (Renaissance) instrument specialists, in the wonderful space of the Cathedral should be stunning."

The Boston Camerata are masters of European music encompassing Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque era music, as well as early American music and Shaker spirituals. Camerata was formed in 1954 and began touring internationally in 1974, taking their musical talent to Canada, England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Israel. Having participated in early music festivals at Berkeley and San Antonio, as well as in many of the biennial Boston Early Music Festivals, Camerata has maintained an extensive touring schedule across the United States. They have been featured all over the world on numerous radio and television appearances.

Aside from their captivating live performances, The Boston Camerata has received multiple honors and recognition for their recorded material. Camerata's recorded performance of Jean Gilles' Requiem became a bestseller in Europe during the spring of 1993. The CD recording of the ensemble's 1992 Tanglewood Festival program, Nueva Espaa: Close Encounters in the New World, was released in autumn, 1993 to critical acclaim in both Europe and America. Simple Gifts , a recording of Shaker spirituals and chants was the number one bestseller on the national Billboard magazine classical chart during later 1995 and early 1996. The Boston Camerata's most recent new recording , A Mediterranean Christmas , became an international bestseller during late 2005.
