Greenville College Homecoming, October 15-17

Sporting events, reunions, and the 43rd running of the annual Panther 5K Road Race are on the schedule for a weekend of black and orange panther pride.

A Friday morning Homecoming chapel featuring Greenville College alumnus Mailee Harris Smith 00, various sporting events, a choir concert, and much more, highlight the annual Homecoming Weekend Friday through Sunday, October 15-17 at Greenville College.

Activities begin Friday, October 15 with Homecoming chapel at the Whitlock Music Center at 9:30 am. Mailee Harris Smith will be awarded the college's Outstanding Young Alumnus Award and will give the chapel address. As part of the class of 2000, Mailee earned a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science, and then continued her education at Valparaiso University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude.

Friday evening, the Panther volleyball team faces off against MacMurray College in the H.J. Long Gymnasium at 7:00 pm. This is not an ordinary volleyball game though; it is the team's third Dig Pink night to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Pink T-shirts will be sold at the game and both teams will wear pink uniforms. All proceeds go to The Sideout Foundation. There will be cotton candy, giveaways, door prizes, and more. Come to the game wearing pink or ready to purchase a T-shirt to support the team. Also at 7:00 pm, the Greenville College Choir will be in concert in the Whitlock Music Center.

Saturday brings another full schedule of festivities. The day begins with a brand new Homecoming Kick-Off event on Hogue Lawn at the front of campus from 7:00 am-9:00 am. The morning kick-off includes the 43rd running of the Panther 5K at 8:00 am, a children's fun run, face painting, music, free continental breakfast, and fellowship with old and new friends.

The men's alumni soccer game and women's alumni volleyball game follow at 9:00 am. At 11:00 am the women's alumni basketball game and women's alumni soccer game kick off. At 1:00 pm both the women's soccer team and the football team go head to head against MacMurray College.

Class reunions begin at 11:30 am in the main dining room of the Armington Center for classes 1960, 1970, 1985, 2000, and 2005. Pre-registration for the reunion luncheon is required.

The evening wraps up with men's soccer versus MacMurray College at 3:00 pm and the men's alumni basketball team taking on this year's GC Panther basketball team at 7:00 pm in the H.J. Long Gymnasium. Get-togethers for the five reunion classes will be hosted from 8:00 pm-10:00 pm around town to close the night and the festivities.
