Greenville College Senior Exemplifies Character and Service
Published: April 13, 2021
Greenville College empowers students for lives of character and service through a transforming Christ-centered education and senior Kayli Catron is one student who exemplifies this mission .
Kayli Catron was honored at the 36th Lincoln Academy of Illinois annual student laureate convocation on November 6 and honored before her peers at Greenville College during a chapel on December 6. The Lincoln Academy , unique among the 50 states, was established 46 years ago. Catron received the Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Medallion for excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities. The annual awards are only given to one senior from each of the four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities in Illinois.
Catron's participation in Greenville College activities and organizations made her an ideal candidate for this honor. Along with writing for the student newspaper, The Papyrus, and volunteering annually at AgapeFest , Catron has held positions with many student organizations while attending GC. She served as Assistant Director for the Campus Activities Board (CAB), co-president for Students for International Crisis Aid (SICA) , and Vice President and President of the Honors Program. Catron has also helped serve the college and community by leading Vespers weekly student worship service, proposing and coordinating Social Justice Week on campus, and working on the planning team for the night-long program Without Ceasing. It is her consistent leadership and dedication to the mission of Greenville College that made Catron this year's Student Laureate Award winner.
Catron is the daughter of David and Lori Catron of Decatur, IL. Catron graduated from Decatur Christian High School in 2007, and will graduate from Greenville College with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban/Cross-Cultural Ministry and Communication: Public Relations in May 2011.
Congratulations Kayli!
