Greenville Launches Degree Completion in Peoria

Published: April 13, 2021

Adults in Peoria have a new option when it comes to completing their bachelor's degree. Greenville College has seen great success in its adult degree-completion program throughout central and southern Illinois, and the school has agreed to offer the program at the Peoria RiverPlex this fall.

The Greenville College program is specifically designed for students with college credit who have yet to complete a bachelor's degree. It also caters to people with full-time work experience. For some students, previous job or military training translates to college credit through Greenville's prior learning assessment.

More than 1,000 adults have completed the Greenville College program, and it has expanded to 11 cities in 13 years. Students earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership which draws from a variety of disciplines to increase effective leadership within an organization.

"We are all in positions where we hope to influence others in a positive way regardless of our job titles. The skills, knowledge, and personal growth students gain will help them be more effective in their current positions as well as prepare them for advancement opportunities," said Dr. Steve Holler, director of organizational leadership.

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that a bachelor's degree can lower ones risk of unemployment and increase earning potential. Greenville College hopes the adult degree-completion program will provide stability for some people facing uncertainty during tough economic times.

Courses meet one night a week for 18 months, and students who complete the program will earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Greenville College. Many career fields are represented within the major, and students enroll for a variety of reasons. Some hope to advance in their careers, while others use the degree to begin new careers.

Bachelor's degree-completion programs will also be held in Belleville, Champaign, Godfrey, Bloomington, Springfield, Effingham and Centralia this fall, and Greenville College is currently accepting applications. For more informationcall (888) 818-4625 or e-mail its-time@greenville.edu.
