Greenville Offers Accelerated Degree for Working Adults
Published: April 13, 2021
Greenville College plans to offer an accelerated degree program this fall. Working adults with prior college experience will have the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree while attending class at convenient locations across central and southern Illinois .
Classes meet one night a week for 18 months, and students who complete the program will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational leadership from Greenville College.
"The major approaches the study of leadership from an interdisciplinary perspective drawing from the fields of psychology, sociology, communication, and philosophy. Each of these fields contributes to teaching us how to be more effective leaders within our organizations," said Program Director Dr. Steve Holler.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that a bachelor's degree can lower ones risk of unemployment and increase earning potential. By offering accelerated courses throughout Illinois, Greenville College has helped over 1,500 adult students graduate with a bachelor's degree since the program began 14 years ago.
"The curriculum is interesting and applicable to future employment and life. I learned so much about the organization of a business, the cultures of others, group behavior, business communication and leadership," said Dawn Stokes, who recently earned her degree in organizational leadership while attending class in Champaign.
Online courses are available for students who are unable to attend one of Greenville's locations. "We are building on the success of our face-to-face courses, and working hard to ensure the same quality instruction for online students," said Holler.
Greenville College has offered the organizational leadership degree since 1996 and continues to expand its adult and graduate programs to offer a variety of bachelor's and master's degrees to qualified students.
