Greenville’s Historic Bass-Mollett House is Cleaned Out and the Evaluation Begins

Published: April 13, 2021

On Tuesday, September 22, over 140 students, coaches, faculty and staff volunteered their time and talents to clean up and evaluate the historic Bass-Mollett House. Many hands made light work as groups removed carpet, cleaned the grounds, removed debris, and assessed the vandalism and state of the flooring and craftsmanship. The work day ended with pizza and prayer for the future of Bass-Mollett.

Over the next two to three months Greenville College officials will have structural and environmental evaluations of the property. The school will complete a feasibility study to determine the highest and best use of this historic Greenville landmark.

The college plans to host a community forum inviting community members to share ideas and concerns. To learn more about the history of the house and to participate in a community discussion, you can join the Facebook group Bass-Mollett House aka Hoiles Mansion and be a part of the Bass-Mollett House history.
