Harris Earns NCAA All-American Honors in Hammer Throw; Seven Participate in National Meet

In addition to Edgar Townsend's national championship in the 110-meter hurdles, six other Greenville track and field student-athletes participated in the NCAA Division III outdoor national championships.

Leading the way was Rochaunda Harris who earned her first All-American honor by throwing a lifetime best mark of 171 feet, 7 inches in the hammer throwwhich placed her eighth overall. Harris' mark gave the Lady Panthers one point which allowed them to end in 67th place.

Rodney Oylerended 10th in the 800-meter runwith a 1:52.58, missing the finals by19 hundreths of a second.

The men's 4x100-meter team (Morr Quem Hobson, Mark Mitchell, Townsend, and Brian White)ran well but missed the finals bynine hundredths of a second, placing12th and running 41.64.

Mitchell placed 16th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.07seconds.

Penny Grantfinished 17th in the long jump leaping17 feet, 8.75 inches.
