Interterm 2012: Jocks & Geeks
Published: April 13, 2021
For any Greenville College student, one of the most exciting portions of the academic school year is Interterm. Set up as a three-week period, students can choose from a variety of different courses to help satisfy both general education and major requirements. Some of the courses mimic those taught in both the fall and spring semesters, however, a select few tend to veer away from the norm. For some students, this means taking a highly coveted travel course.
Tomorrow morning, a mixture of Greenville College athletes and Digital Media majors, will embark on one of this Interterm's travel courses, entitled "Jocks and Geeks." The group is being lead by Greenville College Digital Media Professor, Deloy Cole and Greenville College's Head Women's Volleyball coach, Tom Ackerman. This group of students will be traveling to Cancun, Mexico where they will be coordinating and conducting sports clinics. The hope is that these clinics will attracts kids interested in athletics, while also providing an opportunity to share the gospel with them. The group of students will be partnering with Ignite International and their ministry opportunities within the Cancun area.
Throughout the entire mission trip, Digital Media students will follow the student-athletes and create media for event coverage and group promotion. The will be utilizing various social networking sites, including: Facebook, Twitter, blogs.greenville.edu, and YouTube. If you're interested in following the trip, you can find them here and also on the Greenville College Blogs.
