Interterm Will Never Be the Same ...

Published: April 13, 2021

The Plot: The year is 2092 and Greenville College is celebrating its bicentennial. The celebrations are underway, and there is no shortage of parties and celebrations to attend as faculty, staff, and students get into the spirit of celebrating such a momentous year in the college's history. One GC student named Peter was swimming laps in the college's Olympic-sized swimming pool when he noticed there was something unusual sitting on the bottom of the pool.
He decided to swim down and find out what it was. When he got to the bottom he found a small chest weighing about five pounds. He dragged it to the surface and quickly covered it with his towel so no one could see. After all, there might be some sort of cool treasure inside. He quickly got dressed and headed back to Joy Hall. He was satisfied in knowing that he lived in the best dorm on campus, even after all of these years, and he was excited to find out what was in this mysterious chest!
It was interterm and his roommate was home until second semester, so he figured it would be safe to open the chest there. He carefully unclasped the rusted buckles on the chest and found a stainless steel capsule inside which looked like it unscrewed in the middle.Suddenly he got a strange sensation that what he was about to do was something he might regret, but he almost felt like he had lost control and continued to open the capsule with greater resolve.
When he finally got it open, a small piece of paper fell out.He read the piece of paper and it said, "Well done over-inquisitive one, you have just sealed the fate of your beloved college and now Greenville's 200th year will be her last."Before the words even sank in, there scurried out of the capsule a green and purple scorpion-like creature with two tails.Without warning, the creature's two tails snapped and stung Peter squarely in both eyes. The force of the tails was almost unimaginable from such a small creature. He reeled back and slammed into the window, cracking the glass with his head. There was blood everywhere and he couldn't see a thing.Touching his eyes, the last thing he felt before losing consciousness was an oozing substance beginning to pour out of them...

The Game: Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ) is a game of moderated tag commonly played on college campuses. Human players must remain vigilant and defend themselves by throwing rolled up socks to avoid being "tagged" by the growing zombie horde. The Humans win by surviving long enough for all of the zombies to starve. The Zombies win when all human players have been "tagged" and turned into zombies. For one week, starting Monday, January 11, expect to see students running from building to building, and throwing rolled up socks at one another. Intertem will never be the same!

How to Play: Log onto the web site http://gcpanthers.hvzsource.com/. Register to play. Attend the official GC HvZ meeting on Sunday, January 10 at 9pm in the Upper Union. Read the rules. Upon the start date, check the site to determine if you're the first zombie or not. If you are, start "feeding". If you are not, stay alive!

This event is sponsored by GC Student Development.
