#GivingTuesdayGU: Kori Nesbit ’20, Elementary Education
Published: April 13, 2021
Once Elementary education major Kori Nesbit 20 stepped out in faith to follow Gods call, GU donors just like you lent a helping hand.
When Kori received the word teach during a worship service, she knew it as God calling her to teach children. In the days that followed, she explored options and trusted God to equip her. In time, visits to other universities confirmed GU as her right fit."
This is where I was called, Kori said.
But could Kori afford four years at a private school? Her parents werent so sure. Enter, donors like you, who fund scholarships.
Without scholarships, says Kori, I would not have been blessed enough to attend GU.
Donors:
- put Kori on track to becoming a stellar teacher,
- opened the door to 300 hours of observation and experience in urban and rural classroom settings,
- helped her access seasoned teachers and excellent role models.
They also boosted her confidence by connecting her to dedicated GU faculty who know her well and cheer her on.
I can go to my professors not only for advice in the classroom, but for life advice, Kori says.
Donors like you also have a hand in bringing a little slice of GUs values and influence to the schoolchildren Kori will reach throughout her career. Inspired, she intends to instill a love of learning in all her students so they can reach their full potential. Andfollowing Gods call againshe intends to do that in districts with few resources, where good teachers are needed most.
You create a ripple effect when you equip future teachers like Kori. Thank you for giving.
