Kristen Schutte Places 14th in Javelin Throw in Day Three of NCAA Division III Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The women's track and field team concluded their season Saturday with junior Kristen Schutte's appearance in the NCAA Division III national championships in the javelin throw. Schutte earned 14th of 23 in the event with a throw of 39.98 meters.

Schutte attempted three throws on the afternoon, reaching 38.11 meters in her first attempt and commiting a foul on the second try.

Her final throw of 39.98 meters was just under two meters shy of allowing her to qualify for the finals.

After the final standings were released, the women's track and field team placed 45th of 83 teams with five points. Wisconsin - Oshkosh was the national champion with 80 points. In the men's competition, North Central from Naperville, Ill., was the champion with 58 points.The men's trackand field team did not receive any points in the final standings.
