Maggie McMurtrey recognized as Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- GC thrower Maggie McMurtrey was honored as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 18-24.

McMurtrey,a junior from Morton, Ill., placed first in both the hammer throw and discus at the Washington University-St. Louis Mini Meet on March 22. She posted a throw of 146 feet in the hammer throwtonab first place inthe event out of the 11 athletes competing. She also out-threw nine others in the discus event by posting a distance of 115'2". McMurtrey also placed third out of nine athletes in shot put, throwing a distance of 35'7".
