Men Compete at Washington University

The Greenville College Panthers Track & Field team traveled to Washington University for a two-day invitational on April 2nd and 3rd. On the men's side, the men fought the conditions to come away with one event winner, 13 NCCAA qualifying marks and one NCAA DIII qualifier.
On Friday night the Javelin proved to be the event of the weekend for the men, as Austin Teer (Abbotsford, BC, Canada) and Alex Wilson (Leoti, KS/Greely County) opened their seasons by capturing 4th and 5th respectively. Teer threw 167-09 in his first collegiate competition and Wilson threw a personal best of 162-10. While junior Cole Prins (Erie, IL/Erie) headed up the distance team with an outdoor PR of 15:58.35 through the wind and rain.
On Saturday it was, once again, Edgar Townsend who led the Panther charge. Townsend ran 14.67 in the 110 High Hurdles, which current ranks him 3rd in the nation for DIII. The lone winner on the day was Rodney Oyler (Sr./Macon, IL/Meridian). Oyler's time of 1:53.67, was .5 second from the DIII qualifying standard. Warith Fennoy (East St. Louis, IL/East St Louis) gave the Panthers their only 3rd place finish, as he went 44-10 in the Triple Jump. While sophomore Morr'Quem Hobson (Springfield, IL/Lanphier) addad a 4th place finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 22-6.25.
The men finshed the weekend 7th in the 25 team event.
