Men Place 3rd at Titan Open

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville College Men's Track & Field teams traveled to the Illinois Wesleyan University Titan Open in Bloomington, IL on Saturday, January 30. The Panthers saw an encouraging beginning to their 2010 season. With a limited squad in action, the team garnered 13 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship qualifying marks and a third place team finish.

Edgar Townsend (Sr/ Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) led the way with a second place finish in the 55m Hurdles (7.83), an event in which he finished fourth in the NCAA DIII Championships last year, and third place finish in the 200m Dash (22.77). He was joined in the sprints by sophomore Brian White (Harvey, IL/Thornton Twp.) who snagged a pair of fifth place finishes in the 55m Dash (6.63) and the 200m Dash (23.00).

The middle distance events also picked up a few top five finishers. Senior Rodney Oyler (Macon, IL/Meridian) was third in the 800m, running 1:58.46. In the 400m Lance Ward (Greenville, IL/Greenville) ran 52.52, good enough for fourth, one spot ahead of teammate Anthony Robinson (Litchfield, IL/Litchfield) who finished 52.78.

Jumaane Bey (So/Apple Valley, CA/Apple Valley) went 13.10m (42-11.75) in the Triple Jump to capture third place in the event.
