Men's and Women's Track and Field Combine to Send Seven to NCAA Division III Nationals

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The NCAA has released the list of student-athletes who have qualified for its annual NCAA Division III track and field championships in Delaware, Ohio, this weekend. Greenville College will be represented by seven participants in eight events. Greenville's qualifiers include junior Brian White, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 4x100 meter relay; sophomore Phillip Thomas 110-meter hurdles and 4x100 meter relay; senior Mark Mitchell, 4x100 meter relay; freshman Josh Garcia, 4x100 meter relay; junior Penny Grant, long jump and triple jump; senior Rochaunda Harris, hammer throw; and junior Kristen Schutte, javelin throw.
White attended the Wisconsin-La Crosse qualifier and the Augustana Twilight meets on Thursday and Friday where he competed in the 100-meter dash and 4x100 relay. At Augustana, White placed first of 15 with a time of 10.82 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Thomas competed in the 110-meter hurdles at LaCrosse and Augustana as well, finishing first in the finals of each. At Lacrosse, Thomas ran 14.96 seconds, and he improved his time at Augustana to capture the title in 14.50 seconds.
The relay team of White, Thomas, Mitchell, and Garcia placed second at LaCrosse with a time of 41.17 seconds.
At the women's meets, Schutte headlined GC's efforts as she won the javelin throw at LaCrosse with a mark of 41.74 meters. At Augustana, Schutte placed third with a throw of 38.15 meters.
Grant traveled to the North Central Gregory Invitational where she competed in the long jump and triple jump. Grant lept 5.65 meters in the long jump to place fourth and finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.87 meters.
Harris attended the Augustana and North Central meets, finishing with a throw of 47.48 meters in the hammer throw to place seventh at Augustana and fourth with a throw of 48.60 meters in the hammer throw at North Central.
The NCAA national championships will be hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. A tentative schedule of Greenville's events is as follows -
