Men’s Indoor Track & Field Takes 5th at Packed IC Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. Senior middle distance specialist Coree Woltering paced the Panthers to a top five finish at the Illinois College Jim Green Invitational, posting an 800M time of 1:57.97 and claiming the events top spot.

Saturdays meet showcased several GC highlights both on the track and in the field. Aside from Wolterings 800M tear, both senior Brian White and freshman Bruce Gray notched impressive finishes in the sprints. Both men went sub-seven to finish fourth and third in the 60M respectively. The two made their mark again in the 200M, with White turning in a time of 22.51 to finish third and Gray crossing the line at 22.53 for fourth.

The field was dominated by sophomore standouts Josh Kuusisto and EJ Fridge in the weight throw competition. Kuusisto earned second place with an impressive heave of 16.40m while teammate Fridge finished close behind in third with a 15.84m effort.

As a team the Black & Orange compiled 62 total points, earning the fifth spot in the 18 team indoor meet, with third, fourth, and fifth place separated by a mere two points.

Greenville College mens indoor track and field will return to action next Saturday as they take part in the Monmouth Fighting Scot Invitational set for an 11:00 am start.
