Men’s Track & Field Finishes 2nd at NCCAA Outdoor National Championships

JOLIET, Ill. The mens squad notched their best finish in five years at the NCCAA National meet, scoring 132 total team points to edge Indiana Wesleyan by one point and claim the number two spot.
The mens performance was headlined by the 4x100m squad of Phillip Thomas, Mark Mitchell, Ryan St. Hill, and Brian White, who raced their way to the top spot on the podium with a time of 42.18.
The 4x100m anchor White was only getting started after the relay, as he claimed silver in both the 100m and 200m dashes. White finished with a time of 11.13 in the 100m and 21.92 in the 200m.
Aside from the 4x100m crown, Thomas also turned in an impressive finish in the 100m hurdles, placing second. Thomass time of 14.89 qualified him for the NCAA DIII National meet, while scoring 8 points for Panthers.
The 4x400m relay team comprised of Lance Ward, Anthony Robinson, Bobby Williams, and Coree Woltering contributed 8 points as they placed second at the meet with a time of 3:22.76.
In distance competition senior Cole Prins saved his best for last, running a 15:25.93 and placing second in the 5,000m run.
Matt Pollek led the Panthers in the field, finishing third in the long jump behind a lifetime personal best leap of 22 0.75 to add an additional 6 points to the team total.
The event, held at Joliets Memorial Stadium, was hosted by Judson University and spanned Thursday to Saturday.
The mens squad will next gear up for a meet at Louisville University on Friday, May 11, with their sights set on the NCAA DIII National Championships at Ohio Wesleyan on May 26-28.
