MONMOUTH, Ill. Saturday proved to be a record setting day for the GC men as the Panthers dominated Monmouths Fighting Scot Invitational. Senior Coree Woltering continued his indoor season tear, breaking the school mark in the mile with an impressive time of 4:18.58.
Aside from Wolterings blazing second place finish in the mile, GC again owned the short track and conquered the sprints. Freshman Bruce Gray made his mark in the 60M and the 200M, finishing first in the 60M (6.97) and first in the 200M (22.70).
In the field it was Greenvilles Matt Pollek and Josh Kuusisto pacing the Panther notables. Pollek put up another consistent performance in the jumps, finishing in the fifth spot in the long jump and seventh in the triple. Kuusisto nabbed a top five finish with his heave of 16.59M as he continued to post solid numbers heading into Saturdays championships.
Greenville College mens indoor track and field will now shift their sights to Saturdays NCCAA Championships held on the campus of Cedarville. GC will showcase 29 men in the meet and look to dominate in the sprints and middle distance races.
Injuries are a big concern for us right now, stated head coach Brian Patton. We have the talent and depth in several areas to have a really tremendous day at the NCCAAs, but it will take a great week of preparation and rest.
