Men’s Track & Field Takes Third at WashU Invitational; White Qualifies for NCAA Championships

ST. LOUIS, Ill. Greenville Mens Track & Field traveled back to Washington Universitys Bushyhead Track Complex on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Washington University Invitational. Greenville placed third overall compiling 62 total points, while junior sprinter Brian White raced to a 10.69 100 meter first place finish and an NCAA Division III qualifying mark.
Greenville battled 24 teams in the two-day invitational, performing against squads from NCAA Division I, II, and III and several NAIA and JuCo members.
GCs 4x100 meter foursome of Josh Garcia, Mark Mitchell, Ryan St. Hill, and Brian White again cruised to their second consecutive victory with a time of 42.03.
Though White served as Greenvilles only first place individual finisher at the meet, a number of other Panthers aided in the third place team decision. Phillip Thomas and Mark Mitchell finished fourth and fifth respectively with times of 10.90 and 10.93 in the 100 meter contest.
Junior Matt Pollek leapt to a third place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 42-09.50 to pick up six points for the mens team.
Mens Track & Field returns to action on Saturday, April 9, as they again return to Washington University to take part in the WashU Select Meet.
