Men’s Track & Field Takes Third at WashU Select

ST. LOUIS, Mo. For the third straight week Greenville Track & Field traveled to Washington University St. Louis to compete at Bushyhead Track Complex on Saturday. GC joined a field with some of the top teams in NCAA Division III at the WashU Select meet on Saturday, and claimed third behind several impressive performances.

Headlining the efforts on Saturday afternoon was middle-distance specialist and Senior Coree Woltering. Woltering, who has been battling injury in the early season, posted a time of 1:55 in the 800 to take second, and followed that performance with a 50.42 split in the 4x400 meter relay.

Ross Baker and Josh Dees led the men in distance competition with a pair of lifetime bests in the 1500-meter run. Baker finished in a time of 4:06, while Dees crossed the line at 4:08 respectively.

In the throws freshman E.J. Fridge turned in another great day with a pair of PRs in the discus (14111) and the shot (4510), and placing third in both.

Rounding out the individual notables, Brian White again cruised to another 200 meter win behind an effort of 21.86. White is currently ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division III in the 200-meter dash.

The squad qualified 24 competitors for the NCCAA Championships in the afternoon contest.

The Greenville College mens outdoor track and field team will return to action on Friday, April 15, for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Twilight Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., at 5 p.m. (ET).
