NCAA DIII Indoor Championship Tune Up

The womens squad was split this weekend as the field event athletes traveled to Carthage College in Wisconsin while their running counterparts participated in Iowa States last chance meet. First up was Rochaunda Harris competing in the weight throw. Rochaunda started the day ranked 7th in all of NCAA DIII schools with her throw of 569. By the end of the day, Harris had moved into second position in all of Division III with her school record toss of 606.5 - an incredible improvement of over 3 feet!Two more school records fell on the weekend as freshman standout Tricia Gall broke her own school record in the triple jump with for the 5 time in 6 meets with her jump of 361.25. At Iowa State, senior Michelle Sutton continued her own assault on the distance records. Michelle bettered her previous school record in the mile by just over a second when she crossed the line in 5:11.40.Other highlights included senior mid distance runners Talen Gerber and Jen Sutton who both scored personal indoor bests in the 800 with their times of 2:18.53 and 2:21.34, respectively. Penny Grant, a sophomore from Beardstown, continues to get her jumping legs underneath her after coming over from basketball. Penny jumped 174 to win the Carthage meet.
