New RECORD Looks at Pressing On Through Challenging Times
Published: April 13, 2021
Many of Greenville College's newest alumni, the Class of 2012, face uncertainty as they step out into a world of unknowns. As students, they saw parents lose jobs, family homes plunge in value, and loved ones struggle under the burden of debt. The latest issue of The RECORD looks at the challenges they face in life after college and how members of the greater college community can help.
"Too often our stress over uncertainty is rooted in our desire to anchor our lives to this world rather than trust our Heavenly Father's plan," writes President Larry Linamen. He introduces The RECORD by acknowledging his own approaching transition away from Greenville College. He encourages GC's newest graduates, like all travelers along life's journey, to seek the wisdom of those who have already journeyed a little further down the trail.
An article about GC alumna Ursula Olender '91, director of the career center and associate dean of students at Amherst College, reminds us that face-to-face conversations are never out of date. "Enjoy a phone call or a cup of coffee with someone you admire," she recommends. "I think that people need to be brave and reach out and connect with fellow alumni."
The latest RECORD also includes a look at three areas of growth the College has realized under President Larry Linamen's leadership and introduces Dr. Randy Bergen as GC's acting president. Bergen will assume presidential duties July 1, the start of the College's new fiscal year.
Alumni will not want to miss the Homecoming schedule and registration form included in the centerfold of the magazine. This year, the registration materials included in The RECORD will take the place of materials typically mailed to individual households. Alumni and friends of the College can also click here to register online.
