Owen Pye Joins Blackroom Records, Record Due Early Spring 2011

Owen Pye of Highland, IL is the newest Blackroom Records label artist. Pye is the second artist signed to the Greenville College student run label since its rebirth in 2009.
Pye first introduced himself to Blackroom Records (BR) last spring when the label hosted an artist showcase in the college Blackroom. He performed that evening and the BR staff was immediately intrigued and began working with Pye.
Preparation for the upcoming album began during the summer of 2010 in the recording studios at GC. Blackroom Records President Lucas Harger and Producer and Engineer Chris Bonney, both seniors at Greenville College, worked with Pye through the entire recording and tracking process that they concluded in late August.
"Owen brought in good musicians to play on the record," said album producer, Chris Bonney. "It has been fun to collaborate with them and take their raw energy and translate that into a recorded piece of music."
Owen Pye began his career as a solo artist in 2005 and released his debut album If That's Cool With You in 2006. In 2008, three other musicians with similar dreams joined him and became Owen Pye & The Sunday School Band. They independently released their self-titled album produced by Andy Osenga (Caedmon's Call) in December 2009.
Pye considers his music in the folk genre and is eager to share his music with "willing listeners."
When asked about the project and Blackroom Records partnership, Pye responded, "This is exciting and I am pumped to work with these folks for the next year in support of the record."
