Peoples first as men's track and field kicks off

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. --The indoor men's track and field team opened the 2015-16 year with 14 performances that ranked in the top eight positions at Illinois Wesleyan. Jonah Peoples was the winner of the 60 meter hurdles as his time of 8.52 seconds currently ranks ninth in the NCAA.

Peoples was also second in the 200 meter dash with an end time of 23.24 seconds.

Greenville's throwers were in solid form as they gave the Panthers two third place marks. Mitchell Hooten threw the shot put 13.22 meters, and Dusty Atteberry was fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.78 meters.

Overall four qualified for the finals in the shot put and weight throw. LC Washington was fourth in the shot put (13.21 meters), and Chris Crawford provided a weight throw toss of 14.75 meters for fourth.

Jarrid Williams was fourth in the long jump (6.45 meters) as he set a new personal record.

The Panthers return to Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, January 16.
