Seth Huber Named NCCAA Division I Kyle Rote Jr. National Player of the Year

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Seth Huber, a senior central midfielder on the Greenville men's soccer team, has received the NCCAA Division I Kyle Rote Jr. National Player of the Year Award. Huber, of Coffeen, Ill., concluded the 2004 season with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. The Panthers ended their season with an overall record of 13-7-3.The Kyle Rote Jr. Award goes to the outstanding NCCAA Christian junior or senior men's soccer player in Division I who possesses a vital Christian testimony on and off the field and exhibits outstanding leadership qualities including Christian service activities. The award is sponsored by Universal Marketing and was presented to Huber at the NCCAA national tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., by Gary Beck, CEO of Universal Marketing and former NCCAA basketball all-American at Greenville College.Over his four-year career as a Panther, Huber was the team's leading point producer, helping lead the team from a record of 4-13-3 in his freshman season to two consecutive appearances in the NCCAA North Central regional tournament in his junior and senior year. The 2004 Panther team was ranked in the top 10 in the NCCAA on two occasions.Three times he was recognized as a first team SLIAC all-conference selection and NCCAA North Central region all-region selection. In 2002, Huber was honored on the NSCAA NCAA Division III Central region team.?Not only is Seth our best player, but the most humble leader I have coached, said head coach Brian McMahon. He is a very well respected leader, captain, and mentor to the younger players.Huber will graduate in May with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. He has been a three-time SLIAC academic all-conference selection and was named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America District V first team.In addition to serving as a three-year captain, Huber conducts a team Bible study on Monday night and leads a praise band at church. Many would consider him the spiritual leader of the team.
