SLIAC Announces Men's Basketball Tournament Scenarios

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the scenarios for the fourth and final position in its men's basketball postseason tournament. Three teams - Webster, Blackburn, and Maryville (Mo.) - have already qualified for the tournament which is being held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26, at Webster. Four teams - Principia, MacMurray, Greenville, and Fontbonne - are still alive for the final slot. A Principia win at Westminster (Mo.) Tuesday night clinches a bid for Principia. MacMurray must defeat Blackburn Tuesday night to remain in the picture.If Principia and MacMurray lose, Principia would be tied with the winner of Tuesday night's Greenville-Fontbonne game. This would force a playoff game between Principia and the Greenville-Fontbonne winner on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. Maryville (Mo.) would host the contest.If Principia loses and MacMurray wins, Principia would be tied with MacMurray and the winner of the Greenville-Fontbonne game. In this case, the previously approved and distributed tie breaker procedures will be applied to break the three-way tie.Semifinals are slated for 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, with the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. The winner of the tournament receives the SLIAC automatic berth in the NCAA Division III national tournament.
