SLIAC Names Sutton, Grant Women’s Athletes of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the spring sports players of the week for the week of March 21-27, and headlining the list in Womens Track & Field is Greenville seniors Michelle Sutton and Penny Grant.

Greenville College's Michelle Sutton, a senior from Springport, Mich. (Jackson), has been named the SLIAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for the week of March 21-27.

Sutton placed second out of 22 runners in the 1500 meter run at the Wash. U. Mini Meet. She ran a time of 4:52.26, a little more than four seconds behind Erica Jackey from Washington U.

Penny Grant, a junior from Beardstown, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Women's Field Performer of the Week for the week of March 21-27.

Grant posted a first place finish in the triple jump at the Wash. U. Mini Meet. She recorded a distance of 11.22m, defeating competitors from both Wheaton College and University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Her mark was also a new Greenville record, and it was her first time competing in the event.
