Softball falls to St. Catherine and Luther in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The softball team took a pair of losses in Florida on Tuesday as they lost their opening game 8-3 to St. Catherine before dropping their game to Luther 9-1 in six innings.

Anaya Tobiason collected three hits in the game against St. Catherine, but the Panthers still fell in seven innings.
Cayla Speaks couldn't get it done in the circle for the Panthers, taking a loss. She allowed eight runs in 6 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.
St. Catherine went up for good in the first, scoring two runs. They piled on two more runs in the top of the second.
After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Panthers faced just a 5-2 deficit. An RBI single by Tobiason and a fielder's choice triggered the Panthers' comeback.
St. Catherine added three more runs in the top of the seventh.
One run in the bottom of the seventh helped the Panthers close their deficit to 8-3.
Luther Recap
The Lady Panthers lost 9-1 to Luther. They posted five hits.
Catie Opp was charged with the loss. She allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.
Luther College Norse went up for good in the first, scoring two runs.
Greenville scored their only run of the game on an RBI double by Laney Thacker in the fourth inning.
After posting three runs in the fifth, Luther College Norse again scored three in the sixth.
The losses dropped Greenville's record to 5-9 heading into Thursday's games against St. Thomas and Loras.
